The Taylor Lecture
The Nelson W. Taylor Lecture in Materials is a lecture series that showcases the best materials scientists in the United States. Sponsored by the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Penn State, the lecture series has featured prominent scientists such as Linus Pauling and Woldemar A. Weyl. Featured in the first two photos of this project is Dr. Robert Langer, Professor of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

    Photographing the best Materials Scientists
  • The Nelson W. Taylor Lecture Series in Materials Science and Engineering honors the memory of Professor Nelson W. Taylor (1869 - 1965) who was head of Penn State’s Department of Ceramics from 1933 - 1943. In 2004, it became my responsibility to photographically document the lecturers. Each year, I have the privilege of photographing the best materials scientists in the country, beginning in 2004 with Dr. Robert Langer, Professor of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
