The image of our department depends highly on the image of our faculty - literally and figuratively. Our faculty are international experts in many areas of science and engineering, so it is important our faculty are seen by the world as the great scientists and engineers they are. It has been a proud task of mine to photograph these great people in their environment where they think, work, and change the face of technology and society.
The Nelson W. Taylor Lecture in Materials is a lecture series that showcases the best materials scientists in the United States. Sponsored by the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Penn State, the lecture series has featured prominent scientists such as Linus Pauling and Woldemar A. Weyl. Featured in the first two photos of this project is Dr. Robert Langer, Professor of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
